This is a beautiful and classic 1950s Ceil Chapman constructed from a wonderful, light metallic brocade - an unusual fabric choice for Chapman but one that works spectacularly. Chapman is renowned for being one of Marlyn Monroe's favorite designers and it is easy to see why - this dress is cut to highlight every curve and give you some if you need them. The dress really showcases Chapman's attention to detail and love of gathering and stitching the fabric. The skirt is fitted over the hips and then cut in a slight A-line . The waist is not defined by a vertical seam, rather it is shaped to nip in and then swoops up into the twisted knot of fabric that is hand draped just under the bust in a soft and sexy detail. This draws the eye up and gives the illusion of being even more lean and long then you are. More hand placed and stitched soft pleats along from the shoulder and around the bust. The cut combined with the divine fabric are just jaw dropping. Excellent, appears unworn condition.
Fully lined in a white silky rayon and closes with a back painted metal zipper. Piping at the back waist only to give you curves there as well. Light boning through the sides. Far more metallic in person - so good!
